Non-Smoking

The City of Delray Beach is aNon-Tobacco Workplace. The City will not consider applicants who have used tobacco or nicotine products for a period of at least three months prior to application for employment.

Skilled work repairing and maintaining small and large lawn maintenance equipment. Work is performed under general supervision.

Essential Job Duties

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.

Other duties may be required and assigned.

Repair lawn maintenance equipment. Repair all types of mowers; sod cutters; rollers; saws; hedge trimmers; weed eaters; and brush chipper.

Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.

Perform precision sharpening of blades.

Perform record keeping functions.

Maintain inventory of parts.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS :

• Knowledge of engines, maintenance of engines
• Knowledge of 2 and 4 cycle engines
• Knowledge of principles and techniques in repairing and upkeep of engines, air tools, air wrenches,
• grinding machines; welders and torch.
• Ability to operate all equipment (mowers, wood cutters, edges, tractor, front-end loader, forklift.)
• Ability to read and write and follow written and oral instructions.
• Skilled in mechanics, troubleshooting problems and hydraulics.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• One year (1) of experience in small engine mechanics.
• Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License, with a clean driving record..

operate and care for equipment to manufacturer's specifications and / or within the specified parameters; demonstrate an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with the public and colleagues

A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
